Some wedding days feel like a celebration from the very first moment, and Donatella and Brandon’s South Georgia wedding was exactly that.
Tucked away on a beautiful classic Southern Georgia property in St. Marys, their wedding felt like a hidden little fairytale. Romantic, joyful, colorful, and full of life, every part of the day felt intentional while still being completely natural to who they are as a couple.
And for us, this wedding was especially meaningful because we had the privilege of photographing their story from the very beginning.
We photographed Donatella and Brandon’s engagement, and now we got to be there as they finally said, “I do.”
There is something incredibly special about getting to photograph a couple through multiple seasons of their relationship and then witnessing the moment their engagement story becomes their wedding story.
A Hidden South Georgia Wedding
Their venue was tucked away on a beautiful Airbnb property in St. Marys, Georgia. With its expansive grounds and classic Southern character, the property felt like the perfect setting for the romantic, magical atmosphere they envisioned.
The entire day carried a little bit of that storybook feeling.
Think Southern charm, beautiful blue details, colorful guests, joyful moments, and a couple completely in love.
And knowing Donatella, the queen of storytelling herself, we knew her wedding day had to feel like a story worth telling.
Her Instagram, @donatellastory, says it all. She loves a good story, and we wanted every part of her wedding gallery to feel like one.
A Wedding Full of Color and Life
One of the most memorable details of the day was the beautiful blue color palette.
The guests were color coordinated, creating an incredible visual impact throughout the entire celebration. Instead of the color being limited to the decor, it became part of the photographs themselves.
Guests became part of the visual story.
Everywhere we turned there was color, movement, laughter, and personality.
It made even the candid photographs of their family and friends feel intentional and editorial while still capturing the genuine energy of the day.
The Kind of Vows That Make You Cry
There are some moments behind the camera where you have to remember that you are working because it is very easy to get caught up in the emotion.
Their vows were one of those moments.
Donatella and Brandon’s words to each other were incredibly heartfelt and personal. You could feel how deeply they knew one another and how much their relationship meant to them.
As photographers, we get to witness a lot of wedding vows.
But every once in a while, a couple says something that gets you right in the heart.
These were those vows.
And Then the Dance Floor Came Alive
Once the dance floor opened, the energy of the entire wedding shifted.
Donatella’s Spanish heritage came alive through her family, and it became very clear very quickly that these people knew how to dance.
The dance floor was lively, energetic, and completely unforgettable.
There was movement everywhere, from the couple to their family and friends, and it made for some of our favorite dance floor photographs to date.
These are the images that remind us why we love documentary wedding photography so much. You can plan the details, the portraits, and the timeline, but you cannot manufacture the energy of a family celebrating together.
You simply have to be there and be ready to capture it.
From Engagement to Wedding Day
Photographing Donatella and Brandon’s engagement was already such a joy, so getting to return for their wedding day felt incredibly special.
There is something different about photographing a couple when you already know their story.
You know how they interact.
You know the little ways they make each other laugh.
You have seen them as fiancés, and now you get to photograph them as husband and wife.
Being able to photograph a love story from engagement to wedding day is one of the greatest privileges of being a wedding photographer.
A Magical South Georgia Happily Ever After
Donatella and Brandon’s wedding was romantic, joyful, colorful, and completely alive.
From the hidden St. Marys property and classic Southern charm to the beautiful blue palette, heartfelt vows, and an unforgettable dance floor, their day felt like a modern Southern fairytale with a whole lot of personality.
It was the kind of wedding day that reminds us why we love what we do.
We aren't just photographing beautiful weddings.
We are documenting stories.
And getting to tell Donatella and Brandon’s story from their engagement all the way to their happily ever after was truly something special.
